COME PLAY: Melodrama is the most expressive of Western theatre forms, the one closest to the theatrical impulse itself, based in physical gesture, high stakes, big characters, big emotions, spectacle, the struggle of virtue and evil, to music. It is somewhere between Artaud's "athlete of the emotions" and cops and robbers. It is a theatrical workout to get you out of your head and into your body. In physical theatre, we express and access emotional states in the body, which can complement psychological 'method acting.'

BRING: an open attitude, ready to have FUN and play BIG. Dress to move, hair off face. Bring drinks & treats for our optional post workshop soirée!

LOCATION: ArtWorks Theatre, home of our host [via] Corpora, a Performance Research & Development Lab at 6569 Santa Monica Blvd. Hollywood btwn Seward & Hudson. NO PARKING IN THE LOT but free parking on the street after 7pm. Led by Debbie McMahon, artistic director of Grand Guignolers.
